Natural White Calcium Bentonite: A Procurement Guide for C&D Raw Material

Por hermano-newmaterials October 11th, 2026 vistas 3
For processors that carry out their own grinding and modification, natural white calcium bentonite can provide a flexible raw-material option.

Selecting crushed and dried material—often described commercially as C&D—requires a clear understanding of both the deposit and the intended processing route.

Define the Material Being Purchased
“White bentonite” describes appearance, while “calcium bentonite” describes the material’s exchangeable-cation characteristics. Neither description independently establishes purity, grindability or finished-product performance.

A useful inquiry identifies the required mineral type, supplied size range, moisture and intended application.

Confirm what the supplier means by C&D. The abbreviation does not define a universal drying condition or particle-size specification.

Evaluate Mineral Quality and Associated Impurities
Useful characterization may include X-ray diffraction, chemical analysis, cation exchange capacity and methylene blue results with stated methods.

These measurements provide complementary information. Methylene blue uptake should not automatically be reported as an exact montmorillonite percentage without an appropriate validated relationship.

Buyers should also investigate hard particles and associated non-clay minerals that may affect grinding, screening or the final application.

Agree on the Grinding and Residue Test
A sieve-residue result depends on sample preparation.
For example, a requirement for residue on a 25-micrometre sieve should identify the grinding procedure, dispersion method, wet or dry sieving conditions, and reporting basis.
A result measured on a laboratory-ground sample is different from the size distribution of the supplied C&D lumps.

Agreeing on these details makes supplier and buyer results more comparable.

Start with a Representative Sample
Evaluate material representing the proposed supply rather than a specially selected white fragment.

Compare mineral characteristics, processing behavior and the performance of the resulting powder. Retained samples and batch records support future purchasing decisions.

HERMANO supplies natural white calcium bentonite for further processing. Share your grinding route, impurity requirements and target application to discuss representative samples and available material data.
