The test liquid and preparation conditions matter. Buyers should obtain the method alongside the reported value.
Identify the Contact Liquid A liner may encounter water or liquids containing dissolved salts and other constituents.
Compatibility evaluation should reflect the intended exposure. CETCO recommends project-specific compatibility testing when selecting its chemically resistant GCL products, illustrating the importance of matching the barrier to the liquid environment.
This does not mean every application needs modified bentonite. It means the selection should follow evidence.

Particle distribution, bentonite loading, confinement, hydration, manufacturing and installation can influence the system’s behavior. Raw-clay approval should therefore be accompanied by appropriate finished-liner testing.
A powder specification alone cannot establish installed barrier performance.

Where water availability, temperature or seasonal exposure affects installation, the liner designer and manufacturer should address these conditions in the project plan.
